6CATS International sets up Brexit taskforce as transition agreement looks ‘doubtful’ - 10/12/2020

Leading provider of contractor management solutions, 6CATS International, has created a Brexit taskforce to ensure its partners, recruiters and contractors have access to the latest guidelines as a Brexit agreement looks ‘doubtful’ by the end of the year.

With just a few weeks left before the end of the transition period, COVID-19 restrictions and the Christmas period look set to impact the chances that an agreement will be reached.

Consequently, 6CATS has warned that the likelihood of guidelines for recruiters being finalised are slim, and for staffing businesses providing services to European countries from the UK some disruptions are inevitable.

As Michelle Reilly, CEO of 6CATS International and founder of 6CATSPRO, explained:

“Despite repeated calls from the Government for businesses to ‘prepare’, the lack of finalised country guidelines for those firms providing services to EU locations from the UK makes disruption inevitable. We can’t see that agreeing and passing legislation (in each of the countries) is now feasible in the short timeframe remaining so, while there are some steps that staffing companies and contractors can take ahead of the New Year, there may well be an interruption for most if not all businesses.

“With the on-going uncertainty set to hinder the ability to smoothly transition, 6CATS International has created a Brexit team to research the impact the UK’s departure from the EU will have on the services we provide. We are in constant contact with our partners and accountants to ensure we know about finalised guidelines as soon as they are issued.”
