Abacus Employment Services are recruiting on behalf of our client based in Andover, Hampshire, who is looking for a Trainee Machine Shop Operative to join their growing team on a temp-to-perm basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in a machining and engineering environment. If you have some hands-on experience and a strong willingness to learn, full training will be provided.
The Role
Working within the Machine Shop, you will learn to set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC machinery to produce precision components. Under supervision, your duties will include:
- Operating CNC machining centres and other machinery
- Assisting with the production of precision components
- Supporting in-process inspections, including first-off and final inspections
- Entering production data accurately
- Assisting with goods received and stock deliveries
- Preparing completed projects for dispatch
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe machine shop
- Following all health & safety procedures
- Undertaking internal and external training as required
What We’re Looking For
- Some previous experience in a machining or manufacturing environment (preferred but not essential)
- Strong numeracy skills
- GCSE Maths Grade C/4 or above
- A reliable individual with good timekeeping
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- A positive attitude and genuine willingness to learn
